Green Chili Nut Bread

  • 2 1/2 Cups flour ¾ C. milk
  • 1 C. shredded cheese ½ C. margarine
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt 3 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons sugar 2 1/2 oz. green chilies
  • 1 package yeast 1 C. chopped pecans

Grease a 1-1/2 quart casserole or 9×5-inch pan. In a bowl, combine 1-1/2 cups flour, cheese, salt, sugar and yeast. In a small saucepan, heat milk and margarine until very warm. Add warm liquid and eggs to flour mixture. Blend at low speed. By hand, stir in remaining flour, chilies and nuts. Cover bowl and let rise one hour. Stir down dough. Turn into prepared pan and let rise again for 20 minutes. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Bake 45 minutes. Remove from pan. Yield: 1 large loaf.
