Spicy Pumpkin Bread

2-3/4    cups sugar       1 tsp. cloves

1          cup cooking oil            1 tsp. nutmeg

3          eggs                 1 tsp. allspice

1          16 oz. can pumpkin     1 tsp. cinnamon

3-1/2    cups flour                    1 tsp. salt

1/2       tsp. baking powder     1 cup chopped nuts

1          tsp. soda

 

Cream sugar, oil and eggs together.  Add pumpkin. Stir until mixed.  Let stand for 5 minutes.  Sift dry ingredients together and add to pumpkin mixture.  Stir in pecans.  Fill 3 - 1 pound coffee cans (greased and floured) 1/2 full.  Bake in 325 degree oven 1 hour and 15 min. or until done.  Remove from oven.  Cool 5 minutes.  Remove from cans.
